Pakistan specializes in the exports of textiles, agro-food products and engineering and minerals. Pakistan has established Special Economic Zones to facilitate the Japanese and foreign corporations in investing in the country’s export opportunities through specific tax exemptions, exemptions on import duties and infrastructure provisions e.g. electricity. Export processing zones similarly provide incentives such as exemptions on import duties for machinery, equipment and materials, import regulations not applicable, sales tax on inputs such bills, and regulations on exchange controls2.
